Today, we acknowledge a court decision that brings great joy to many, and terrible anger, fear, and sorrow for others.

While the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade answers the prayers of millions, many women took that as a sign that our country - and the Church - do not value them.

Here at Zeal Church, we believe God created us with the ability to hold space for conflicting emotions, so we:

- Rejoice with those who rejoice. The Bible is clear that life begins at conception because God “knit me together in my mother’s womb” (Ps 139:13), He “knew you” before He “formed you in the womb” (Jer 1:5), and He sets us apart before we are born (Gal 1:15). We honor all human life from the moment God forms us until the day we breathe our last breath, and we’re grateful that far fewer babies will be lost because of this court decision.

- Mourn with those who mourn (Rom 12:15). Many women who choose abortion do so because they don’t have the support and resources they need to bear and raise that child. It breaks our hearts that these women may feel trapped now, with no hope and nowhere to go. Therefore, we…

- Encourage everyone to offer tangible support through a local non-profit to the pregnant moms who need medical services now, and food and clothing for their babies later. We are NOT a church who only advocates for life in the womb, we affirm that all life is worth protecting! One such organization who provides free medical and parenting services for abortion-vulnerable parents here in the Springs is @lifenetworkcos. Swipe to see their current needs and how you can help!

We’d like to think our choices only affect us.

We’d like to think our choices only affect us.

If we struggle with anger with our families, or lust expressed through porn, or fear filling us with stress and anxiety, or anything else God commands us not to do, we assume it really only affects us and the people directly involved.

But it’s bigger than that.

When we are not living in agreement with God’s heart for our holiness, we automatically express agreement with demonic spirits who work in and through our broken choices.

When we allow our anger to shape how we act, we agree with the enemy that we should take our own revenge, or force the other person to our will and way.

When we look at porn, we agree with a spirit of lust that it’s ok to use people’s bodies for our pleasure and escape, instead of honoring every person’s body as an expression of the image of God.

When we allow fear to take free reign in our thoughts, we agree with demons that God is not good, that He cannot be trusted, that He won’t work all things out for the good of those who love Him and are called to His purposes (Romans 8:28).

And when we agree with all these dark spirits, we give them more power not just in our own lives, but in our families, our cities, and our nation.

That’s part of why repentance is so important - when we confess our sins to God, we agree with HIM that our thoughts or actions were wrong.

And when we confess our shortcomings to safe people, we agree with Jesus that we need to be honest so we can experience healing (James 5:16).

How you live your life matters. Ask God where you are not in agreement with Him, and experience how He brings more freedom and healing into every part of your being!

Want to increase God’s movement in your life? Ask Him where you are not in agreement with Him.

We all *think* we are in agreement with the Lord, because we want all the good things He has for us.

But when we find ourselves too busy for time with Jesus, we are in agreement with the enemy that time with God doesn’t matter all that much.

When we do not tithe and give from what He has given us, we are in agreement with the enemy that our money is just for us to enjoy, and not to share and bless others.

To be in agreement with God is to obey Him in all things, rather than simply the things we find convenient or important.

“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” John 14:15

As in marriage, or family, or any other type of relationship, love is more than a feeling. Agreement is more than words. Without action, they are meaningless, dust which the wind drives away.

Lord, we want to come into agreement with everything You say, even when it’s painful, even when it causes us suffering. You’re worth it. What You’ve done for us is worth it. The promises You made that are dependent on our obedience are worth it. Thank you, though, that Your love is NOT dependent on our obedience, only some of Your blessings. Help us believe You, and may our actions show that we trust You more than we even trust ourselves.
